Yes, DALI-based LED drivers can provide energy and diagnostic data to a building management system (BMS) , but the exact capability depends on the driver certification and implemented DALI data functions. For sports lighting projects, this distinction is important when specifying smart LED floodlights.

How Does DALI Data Reach a BMS?

A typical system can be arranged as:

LED Sports Floodlight → DALI-2/D4i Driver → DALI Controller/Gateway → BMS

DALI is bidirectional, allowing the control system not only to send dimming commands but also to retrieve information from compatible drivers. DALI Part 252 covers energy reporting, while Part 253 covers diagnostics and maintenance data.
